Dublin School of Mortuary Science

Embalming is the art and science of preserving human remains
by treating them (in its modern form with chemicals) to forestall decomposition.

As practiced in the funeral homes of the Western World, embalming uses several steps. Modern embalming techniques are not the result of a single practitioner, but rather the accumulation of many decades.

Embalming chemicals are a variety of preservatives, sanitizers, disinfectant agents and additives used in modern embalming to temporarily delay decomposition and restore a natural appearance for viewing a body after death.

Welcome to the Dublin School of Mortuary Science

The Dublin School of Mortuary Science Embalming program is one of the most comprehensive in the country. It promotes excellence through education and the very best in practical training. Successful completion of the course will result in a professional qualification from the International Examinations Board of Embalmers (I.E.B.E.). Which in turn qualifies you to apply for membership of the British Institute of Embalmers (B.I.E.).

The only educational pre-requisite regarding enrollment on the embalming course is that candidates must be successful in the foundation module exam (Module A Unit 1)

This will enable you to become a student member of the British Institute of Embalmers, before progressing onto the remainder of the course.
