Global School of Mortuary Science

Embalming is the art and science of preserving human remains
by treating them (in its modern form with chemicals) to forestall decomposition.

As practiced in the funeral homes of the Western World, embalming uses several steps. Modern embalming techniques are not the result of a single practitioner, but rather the accumulation of many decades.

Embalming chemicals are a variety of preservatives, sanitizers, disinfectant agents and additives used in modern embalming to temporarily delay decomposition and restore a natural appearance for viewing a body after death.

Welcome to the Global School of Mortuary Science

The Global School of Mortuary Science Embalming program is one of the most comprehensive in the country. It promotes excellence through education and the very best in practical training. Successful completion of the course will result in a professional qualification from the International Examinations Board of Embalmers (I.E.B.E.). Which in turn qualifies you to apply for membership of the British Institute of Embalmers (B.I.E.).

The only educational pre-requisite regarding enrollment on the embalming course is that candidates must be successful in the foundation module exam (Module A Unit 1)

This will enable you to become a student member of the British Institute of Embalmers, before progressing onto the remainder of the course.

  • The Embalming course is designed with the students needs and availability in mind. The course is ongoing throughout the year and can be started at the students convenience.
  • 25/03/15 We have just introduced some new and affordable payment plans for the course…. 18 month payment options now available.
  • In early 2017 the school went through some very significant changes, the most obvious was changing our name from the Dublin School of Mortuary Science, to the Global School of Mortuary Science. This was done for two reasons, the first being the relocation of the school to our new purpose built facility in Athy, Co. Kildare. The second being the the very successful upskill and intensive programs we are now running for our many international students. Please feel free to contact us   for more information on the above.
